The Plinkit Home Tab
When you first access a Plinkit Web site, the Home tab is displayed by default.

This screen shot shows the basic features of the Home tab, as preconfigured by the Plinkit Administrator.
|
Tip: If you have navigated to another part of your Plinkit site, you can return to the Home tab view by clicking the Home tab below the library name banner or by clicking the Home link in the navigation portlet. Both of these links will be highlighted whenever the Home tab is being displayed. |
In addition to the standard page elements that appear on every Plinkit page, the default Home tab also includes the following features:
1. News portlet: Displays links to the most current library news items. If there are no current news items, this portlet is not visible.
2. Library catalog and account access (if available for your library): Allows users to search your library catalog and access their personal library accounts.
3. eShelf & Research area: Provides links to general research tools. (These links also appear on the Plinkit eShelf & Research tab.)
4. L-net link: Provides access to L-net, a statewide library resource that allows users to chat online with Oregon reference librarians.
5. OSLIS link: Provides access to the Oregon School Library Information System, a statewide reference tool designed specifically for K-12 students.
6. Location & hours portlet: Displays your library’s location, phone number, and operating hours.
7. Calendar portlet: Displays a calendar for the current month, with the current date outlined. Dates for which library event announcements exist are highlighted with a differently colored background and bold numbers. Hold your mouse pointer over a highlighted date to see basic event information, or click the date to see more details about all scheduled events for that date.
8. Upcoming events portlet: Displays a list of upcoming library events. Click any event in the list for more detailed information about the event. If there are no upcoming library events, this portlet is not visible.
